Vomit Stains in Carpet

Vomit stain on carpetFollow This Procedure to Remove Vomit Spots & Stains from Carpets and Rugs:

WARNING: Vomit is strongly acidic and, therefore, can severely stain nylon and permanently set dyes (the lower the pH, the more stable the dye). If human vomit, wear full skin and eye protection!

  1. Extract the vomit on the carpetScrape up excess and thoroughly extract.
  2. Apply ProZyme to the vomit stainIf this is a synthetic fiber, apply Pro-Zyme Heavy Soil & Grease Digester diluted according to label directions and agitate the area with the Carpet Shark.
  3. Allow time for the ProZyme to attack the vomit stainAllow the bacteria and enzymes in Pro-Zyme to digest the vomit for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Extract the vomit from the carpetExtraction clean the area.
  5. If this is a synthetic fiber, apply Stain Magic® 2-Part Stain Remover for Organic and Natural Stains according to label directions.
  6. If this is wool or cotton, use Stain Magic for Wool.
  7. If this is sisal (jute), don’t even bother trying - the stain isn’t going to come out without bleaching out the rug!
  8. Agitate with Carpet Shark.
  9. Extraction clean the area with PCA Formula 5 in your extractor.
  10. Apply Stain Blotter to prevent wickingTo prevent wicking, heavily sprinkle Stain Blotter Anti-Wicking Absorbent Powder on area to absorb any material that wicks up.
  11. Allow the Stain Blotter to dry overnightAllow carpet to completely dry and the Stain Blotter to absorb any vomit wicking up from the backing or pad.
  12. Vacuum up the dried Stain BlotterThe customer can vacuum up the Stain Blotter the next day.
  13. Vomit and stain on carpet is goneThe vomit and stain are now completely gone and the process is now complete!
  14. If human vomit, treat all materials used such as towels as a biohazard and dispose of at a medical waste treatment facility.
  15. OSHA standard 1910.1030 covers worker exposure to blood borne disease-causing organisms (also called the “blood borne pathogen rule”). Training, record-keeping, protective clothing, vaccinations and many other standards are required if your employees are likely to be exposed to such a problem particularly in doctors or dental offices, clinics, nursing homes, hospitals or other health care facilities. The standard also covers restoration services dealing with cleanup after suicides, violent crimes, etc. The rule is designed to protect employees from the danger of infection.
  16. Assume that all human vomit is infected with HIV virus. Protect your skin with rubber gloves. Wear eye protection. Treat all materials used such as towels as a biohazard and dispose of at a medical waste treatment facility.
