Paint (Latex) Spill on Carpet Removal

Follow the Following Steps to Remove Latex Paint from Carpet:

If the paint on the carpet is still wet and on the surface, follow these steps to remove:

  1. Scrape up as much of the paint on the carpet as possible.
  2. Blot with moist towel(s) or white towels.
  3. Apply Pro-Solve Gel Thickened Solvent-Based Spot & Stain Remover liberally to the area to emulsify the paint.
  4. Agitate with the brush or Carpet Shark.
  5. Apply Power Gel
  6. Agitate gently but thoroughly.
  7. Thoroughly extract the area using hot water or detergent to remove all of the paint from the carpet.
  8. If needed, repeat the above procedure.
  9. If extremely heavy, use the Water Claw® Spotter Sub-Surface Spot Lifter to more thoroughly flush out the paint. (6:45)
  10. Get as dry as possible.

If the latex paint has dried:

  1. Apply Pro-Solve Gel Thickened Solvent-Based Spot & Stain Remover liberally to the area to emulsify the paint.
  2. Agitate gently with brush.
  3. Cover with clean terry cloth towel.
  4. Apply steam heat from steam iron set at mid-range temperature for 30 seconds.
  5. Reapply Pro-Solve Gel.
  6. Agitate gently but thoroughly.
  7. Apply Power Gel liberally to spot.
  8. Agitate gently but thoroughly, agitate to emulsify dissolved paint.
  9. Repeat above steps if needed.
  10. Thoroughly extract the area using hot water or detergent to remove all of the paint from the carpet.

If an entire gallon of paint was spilled on one small carpeted area, follow these steps to remove the paint spill:

  1. Replace the carpet pad in the affected area and section the affected carpet area.
  2. Treat as oil-based paint.
  3. To prevent wicking, heavily sprinkle Stain Blotter Anti-Wicking Absorbent Powder on area to absorb any material that wicks up.
  4. The customer can vacuum up the Stain Blotter the next day.
