How to remove feces (crap) from carpets and rugs

How to Remove Pet Poop Stains (Pet Turds, Crap, Excrement) from Carpets and Rugs

  1. If cleaning up for the customer, ask them to remove the turds as quickly as possible.
  2. Scrape up or blot up as much of the material as possible, being careful to to drive the stain further into the carpet. You should wear rubber gloves, of course! Dispose of the waste in a plastic bag, tie it up and throw out the bag.
  3. Apply 2 oz. per gallon Pro-Zyme Heavy Soil & Grease Digester in hot water heavily.
  4. Gently but thoroughly agitate fibers to break up and emulsify deposit.
  5. Allow dwell time - at least 30 minutes - to allow the enzymes in Pro-Zyme to break down the organic material.
  6. Thoroughly extraction clean with PCA™ Formula 5 + Booster™ with extra dry strokes leaving carpet or rug as dry as possible.
  7. Get the rug or carpet as dry as possible.
  8. To prevent odor development and kill any disease-causing bacteria, apply Sporicidin Disinfectant Solution® or MediClean Disinfectant Spray®.
  9. To prevent wicking and any material in the backing and pad from returning, heavily sprinkle Stain Blotter Anti-Wicking Absorbent Powder on area to absorb any material that wicks up.
  10. The customer can vacuum up the Stain Blotter the next day.
  11. If there is a stain that did not come out with cleaning, treat with Stain Magic® Stain Remover for Organic and Natural Stains by Pro’s Choice. NOTE: If the carpet or rug is a natural fiber such as wool, use Stain Magic for Wool instead of regular Stain Magic.

If extremely heavy:

  1. After removing the turds and following the above procedures, use the Water Claw® Sub-Surface Spot Lifter to more thoroughly flush out the spill.
  2. Leave as dry as possible.

If discoloration remains:

  1. After following the above procedures, apply Stain Magic® using a trigger sprayer and wet the discolored fibers.
  2. NOTE: If the carpet or rug is a natural fiber such as wool, use Stain Magic for Wool instead of regular Stain Magic.
  3. Allow spot to dry at ambient room temperature.
  4. The stain will disappear as it dries.

Finally, after the above procedures have been followed:

  1. Spray with MediClean Disinfectant Spray® or Sporicidin Disinfectant Solution® to eliminate any odor and bacteria.
  2. To prevent wicking, heavily sprinkle Stain Blotter Anti-Wicking Absorbent Powder on area to absorb any material that wicks up.
  3. The customer can vacuum up the Stain Blotter the next day.
