Procedure to follow:
- Thoroughly clean or toss out anything that is contaminated.
- Open the windows in the home to ventilate it.
- Let natural sunlight and fresh air in to help neutralize the skunk odor.
- Run fans to get air moving, preferably moving the inside air to the outside.
- Replace the furnace filters.
- Professionals use ozone odor control machines to get rid of the odor in a room.
- Additionally, for any remaining odor, X-Cide Odor Killer may be required.
- A common household remedy is sometimes used by combining 1 quart of 3% household hydrogen peroxide, 1/4 cup baking soda, 1 teaspoon of dish washing liquid and water added as needed. NOTE: Peroxide may remove color from fabrics and can burn skin and eyes!
