How to Remove Dandruff Shampoo from Carpet Yourself
Dandruff shampoos frequently contain sulfur compounds which may turn the fibers permanently brown, which cannot be reversed.
What ingredients are in dandruff shampoos? Head and Shoulders® by PROCTER & GAMBLE contains:
- Active ingredient: Pyrithione zinc 1%
- Inactive ingredients: Water, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium laureth sulfate, glycol distearate, zinc carbonate, sodium chloride, sodium xylenesulfonate, cocamidopropyl betaine, fragrance, dimethicone, sodium benzoate, guar hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride, magnesium carbonate hydroxide, methylchloroisothiazolinone, methylisothiazolinone, blue 1, red 33.
Directions to remove:
- If the shampoo has dried in the carpet, it will be thick and sticky. Blot with rubbing alcohol to thin it out and make it easier to remove.
- Scrape up as much as possible.
- Blot with a solution of 1 teaspoon maximum of liquid HAND dish washing detergent per cup of lukewarm water.
- Blot with lukewarm water with a white towel until there is no more foam.
- Blot dry with a dry WHITE absorbent towel.
