Polyurethane on Carpet - Removal

Follow these Steps to Remove Polyurethane from Carpet:

If a fresh spill of polyurethane and not very heavy:

  1. Blot up.
  2. Use Pro-Solve Liquid Liquid Solvent Spotter.

If the polyurethane has dried:

  1. Blot with acetone, avoiding delaminating the carpet backing.
  2. If this fails, the affected carpet section may have to be replaced.
  3. Moisture-cured polyurethanes can only be removed with very strong paint strippers containing acid activated methylene chloride, which is toxic and will definitely delaminate the carpet.
