Dye Bleed on Rugs and Carpet - How to Fix
Dye Bleed Stain Spot & Stain Removal from Carpets and Rugs
On occasion, especially with olefin/nylon berber blends, some bleeding of new carpet may occur with its first cleaning. This might occur, for example, where red or blue is used in speckles in the berber.
Dye bleed can also occur on rugs from dog or cat urine liberating rug dyes.
- Simply apply 30 or 40 volume CLEAR hydrogen peroxide to the affected areas, leave about 15-30 minutes, and extract to stop the bleaching action.
- This procedure will often remove the small amount of dye bleed without affecting the main dyes.
