How to Remove Petroleum Oil, Diesel Fuel, Gasoline and Fuel Oil from Carpet
- Pull up the carpet to determine the severity of the spill. The carpet and pad both may have to be replaced.
- If heavily spilled on upholstery or into the backing and pad of a carpet or floor mat, complete elimination of the odor is nearly impossible.
- Thoroughly blot with Saf-T-Solv™ Dry Volatile Solvent Spotter.
- Prespray Preface® at 1:10 with water or Olefin Preconditioner Carpet Prespray / Traffic Lane Spotter for oily soils at 1:10-1:30, agitate and thoroughly extraction clean.
- If extremely heavy, use the Water Claw® Sub-Surface Spot Lifter to more thoroughly flush out the spill.
- To prevent wicking, heavily sprinkle Stain Blotter Anti-Wicking Absorbent Powder on area to absorb any material that wicks up.
- The customer can vacuum up the Stain Blotter the next day.
- Residual odor may have to treated with an Ozone Odor Control Machines.
