Berry Stains on Carpet

HOW TO REMOVE SPOTS and STAINS from BERRIES on CARPETS

TOOLS NEEDED to REMOVE BERRY STAINS:

CHEMICAL AGENTS NEEDED:

STEP-BY-STEP PROCEDURE TO REMOVE BERRY STAINS:

  1. Absorb.
  2. Mix Pro-Zyme according to directions on bottle.
  3. Apply solution to stained fibers to thoroughly wet fibers.
  4. Gently but thoroughly agitate fibers with your Carpet Shark to break up and emulsify deposit. Dwell time will help the biochemistry work for you here.
  5. Thoroughly rinse via water extraction leaving carpet as dry as possible (do not use an acid rinsing agent here).
  6. If extremely heavy and in the carpet pad, use the Water Claw® Sub-Surface Spot Lifter Sub-Surface Spot Lifter to more thoroughly flush out the spill.
  7. Apply Stain Blotter powder to absorb any wicking that might occur during drying.
  8. When spot is completely dry, vacuum thoroughly.
  9. Wicking on heavier deposits may occur. If deposit is heavy enough to have soaked through backing and into pad, replace the contaminated pad and clean carpet backing.
  10. Wicking can be corrected by using an absorbent powder such as Stain Blotter. Simply cover spot liberally with Stain Blotter following your stain removal process. The wicking will go into the Stain Blotter and can then be vacuumed away when dry.
  11. TIP: Stain 1 Stain Remover will make most re-occurring stains disappear.

IF SOME RESIDUE or STAIN REMAINS:

  1. Extraction clean the carpet again.
  2. Mix equal parts of Stain Magic Solution “A” and Solution “B” in a clean separate container or use the dual chamber sprayer kit.
  3. Of course, if the berry stain is on solution dyed nylon or on 100% olefin, you can apply chlorine bleach diluted 1:5 with water followed by THOROUGH rinsing and dry blotting
  4. Apply the mixed solution to the stain liberally and evenly to wet all the stained fibers and agitate gently with your Carpet Shark. A trigger sprayer works well for this.
  5. Dwell Time: You may see the stain disappear immediately, or it may require 1-2 hours for the chemical reaction to reach completion. Some stains may require up to 12 hours.
  6. Rinse with hot water extraction.
  7. If a heavy spill, use Stain Blotter to prevent wicking.
  8. The customer can vacuum up the Stain Blotter the next day.

PRECAUTIONS:

  • IMPORTANT: Do not use high temperature cleaning or heat activated stain removal procedures on these types of stains.
  • Do not place mixed solution in a closed container. OR, better yet, use the Dual Chamber Sprayer Kit.
  • Covering treated fibers with clear plastic will improve performance by extending contact time.
  • Never place mixed solution in closed container or pressure will build up and cause container to burst.
  • Removal of some of the carpet dye is always possible in this type of system!
  • NEVER mix Stain Magic with Red Relief.
  • Do not use Stain Magic or Stain 1 on natural fibers such as wool, cotton, jute, etc.
  • Wear rubber gloves.
  • Always dispose of unused solution.
