Ball point ink is extremely concentrated - a little goes a LONG way Simply blotting with a solvent such as Saf-T-Solv™ Dry Volatile Spotter or alcohol will simply make the spot larger and force the ink into the backing and make quite a mess.
Instead, use Pro-Solve Liquid Solvent Spotter and Stain Magic®.
Procedure to Remove Ball Point Ink from Carpets and Rugs:
- NOTE: Ink Out, previously used to remove ball point ink stains, has been replaced with Pro-Solve Liquid Solvent Spotter which meets the the Clean Air Act requirements.

- Mix equal parts of Stain Magic®.

- Liberally apply the mixed Stain Magic to the perimeter of the ink stain, but not directly on the stain. This will act as a barrier to reduce spreading of the ink stain, making the stain even worse.

- Apply Pro-Solve Liquid to the area stained with the ink.

- Agitate gently to dissolve the stained area treated with Pro-Solve Liquid using a bone scraper or the Carpet Shark Spotting Tool by Pro’s Choice.

- Apply Stain Magic to the treated stained area. As deposit dissolves, the Stain Magic will remove its color. Alternate applications of Stain Magic and Pro-Solve Liquid as needed.

- Extraction rinse and blot up with a dry, absorbent cloth.

- Stain is gone. As an extra measure to prevent wicking up of any remaining stain, apply Stain Blotter, which the homeowner can vacuum up the next day.
