Stop wicking problems! Reduce resoiling. Keep spots from coming back after carpet and rug cleaning. Now, with ARA Anti Re-Soiling Agent, call backs can be a thing of the past!
ARA is designed to prevent rapid resoiling of fibers by drying sticky residues into a fine non-sticky powder that vacuums easily. Rapid re-soiling is usually caused by a sticky substance or dirt that wicks up after a carpet has been cleaned. ARA acts as a drying agent that changes these sticky substances to dust that will not attract dirt and can be vacuumed away.

How to Reduce or Eliminate Resoiling of Carpet After Cleaning:
- What most people mean by “resoiling” is that the carpet became visibly dirty more quickly than it should have after it was cleaned.
- There are many potential causes of resoiling:
- Track-in of ice melt, especially calcium chloride, will hasten soiling.
- A moisture condition from malfunctioning air conditioning or water leaks leads to moist carpet, which will make the carpet a great cloth to clean off the bottoms of shoes!
- Has the customer recently spilled something on the carpet and tried to get it up - with a sticky spotter or dishwash?
- Sticky residues from soft drink spills will also rapidly cause resoiling.
- Perhaps, the traffic pattern has changed resulting in more soil being tracked in, or the parking lot was recently repaved or there is construction.
- If the carpet was cleaned with a shampooer or a consumer extractor, there may be a great deal of soil attracting residue in the carpet. Bonnet cleaning and the shampoo methods are infamous for this problem.
- How to Prevent Resoiling of Carpet after Cleaning:
- Use SCR Soil Crystallization Rinse for extraction cleaning in extreme cases.
- In areas where there is a large number of spills on a level loop carpet only, such as in a kitchen, follow extraction cleaning with bonnet cleaning using dry bonnets with Pro’s Choice Brush & Bonnet. This speeds up drying and absorbs much of the material wicking to the surface.
- For individual heavy spills of sticky materials, you can use the Water Claw® Sub-Surface Spot Lifter to flush out the contaminants.
- Immediately following cleaning, spray an even coat of Pro’s Choice ARA Anti-Resoiling Agent onto the carpet in areas where rapid re-soiling is a problem.
Reappearing Spots and Stains After Cleaning Carpet:
- Why Do Spots Come Back After Cleaning Carpet?
- Spots return after cleaning carpet because of “wicking”.
- Because most of a spill is not on the fibers, but is instead in the backing and even the pad, sometimes not all of the sticky contamination is removed in cleaning.
- Sometimes your customer used a spotter or laundry detergent and removed the spot from the surface, but the spill is still in the backing and the pad.
- Your cleaning reactivated the spot and wicked back up to the surface.
- How Can I Keep Spots from Coming Back?
- Drying time is critical to reduce this problem, use plenty of dry strokes and air movers, especially when working with heavily soiled carpet or berber.
- For individual heavy spills where the contamination is in the backing and pad, you can use the Water Claw Sub-Surface Spot Lifter to flush out the contaminants and apply ARA or Stain Blotter.
- If you suspect a spot may reappear after cleaning, the last step after spot removal should be to leave a weighted dry towel or use Stain Blotter. For large areas of spills, apply ARA.
- For extreme problems from spills, such as in a cafeteria or lunchroom, on level loop carpet, dry bonnet the area with Brush & Bonnet after cleaning, do a Brown Out® rinse and apply ARA.
General Directions for Applying ARA to Carpet:
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Read label directions and cautions before using.
- Warm water extract the carpet and get the carpet as dry as possible.
- Spray an even coat of ARA onto the carpet in areas where rapid resoiling is likely to occur or has occurred in the past. Apply at the rate of 3 ounces ARA per square yard.
- After the carpet is completely dry, vacuum the treated areas very thoroughly with an upright vacuum cleaner equipped with a brush.
