Area Rug Pick-up and Drop-off times: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
We’e been in the rug cleaning business since 1962 and have developed with the aid of our in-house chemist the best and safest methods for cleaning oriental and area rugs to make them not only cleaner and free of odors, but also longer-lasting.
Our cleaning technicians have undergone extremely thorough training in cleaning different types of area and oriental rugs - from everyday wool area rugs to antique oriental rugs. While many rugs can be cleaned on location, cleaning in our plant is preferred to avoid any problems from overspray onto wood or stone floors or possible rug dye bleeding into underlying carpet. Our customers quite often drop off rugs for cleaning, but we also offer pick-up and delivery service in limited areas for an extra fee.
Cleaning Price:
- All rugs are not made the same; so, they are not all cleaned the same.
- We clean all types of rugs, including oriental rugs as well as a variety of inexpensive department store rugs.
- Our beginning price is $1.25 per square foot for cleaning and application of fabric protector.
- However, price may be higher for more delicate rugs or rugs requiring special treatment such as stain removal.
- Rugs must be paid in full at the time they are dropped off.
- Rugs not picked up after 60 days will be disposed of or storage fees may begin.
- Double-Sided rugs are charged by the square feet times two.
Deodorization Price:
- Our beginning price for deodorization is $1.50 per square foot in addition to the cleaning price above.
- Rugs severely saturated with urine and exhibit very strong urine odor will not be cleaned unless deodorizing is paid for.
Area Rug Pick-Up and Delivery:
- We have a pick up and delivery service for an extra fee. Call 317-546-5448 for an appointment and details.
The steps we typically follow in cleaning rugs:
- Pre-Inspection:
- Pre-inspection is by far the most important step in cleaning rugs.
- We examine the rug (front and back), take a photograph of the rug, check the manufacturer’s tag (if any), determine the type of fiber and document all pre-existing conditions - previous damage and possible problems such as fading, discoloration, mold, urine stains, other stains, damaged or loose fringe, worn pile, tears, dye bleeding, odors, etc.
- In some cases, we cannot clean the rug because of its existing poor condition which may be worsened by cleaning.
- We note overall soiling condition.
- We check for color fastness to determine what cleaning procedures we can use.
- We make certain you know any problems we find.
- Cleaning:
- We pre-dampen the fringes with our cleaning solution and then apply prespray, using a grooming brush to ensure thorough coverage of all fringe fibers, and also use the brush to comb the fringe neatly away from the rug face. Fringe is usually white cotton and grays severely. We do not make repairs.
- We then pretreat or remove any existing spots and stains on the rug that may pose a problem while cleaning.
- Using our mild Bane-Clene cleaning agents, extraction equipment and a low-moisture cleaning tool, we clean the rug (both sides if needed). For severely urine contaminated rugs, we frequently give the rug a “bath” cleaning.
- If deodorization is needed, we treat the rug with a deodorizer designed specifically to remove pet urine odor from rugs.
- After cleaning the carpet fibers, we clean the fringes, being careful to avoid browning and dye bleeding onto the fringes.
- Once we have cleaned the rug, we treat it with a pH neutralizing agent to stabilize and brighten the rug dyes.
- If cleaned in our plant, we hang the rug on our wooden poles as shown in the picture above.
- We dry the rug as quickly as possible using blowers.
- Application of Fabric Protector:
- Included in our rug cleaning service is the application of a fabric protector which guards against future spills, stains, spots and soil and helps keep them from penetrating and ruining your fabric.
