Vacuum Belt Stain Marks on Carpet
Follow this Procedure to Remove Rubber Belt Marks from Carpet:
INCLUDES Rubber Belt Marks, Vacuum Cleaner Belt Marks
If the belt on a vacuum cleaner breaks and the operator doesn’t immediately notice it and stop the machine, severe rubber black marks will be put on the carpet, especially on polypropylene (olefin) carpet.
If the affected carpet is olefin:
- You may be able to remove a small amount with Saf-T-Solv™ Dry Volatile Solvent Spotter or Pro-Solve Liquid Solvent Spotter.
- However, because the heat from friction with the belt is very high and the softening and melting points of olefin are so low, the rubber has probably melted into the fiber, making total removal of the stain impossible.
If the affected carpet is nylon:
- There is a FAIR chance that you can remove it with Saf-T-Solv, followed by Stain Magic® 2-Part Stain Remover treatment.
- If that fails, try Pro-Solve Liquid Solvent Spotter.
