How to Remove Petroleum Oil, Diesel Fuel, Gasoline and Fuel Oil from Carpet

  1. Pull up the carpet to determine the severity of the spill. The carpet and pad both may have to be replaced.
  2. If heavily spilled on upholstery or into the backing and pad of a carpet or floor mat, complete elimination of the odor is nearly impossible.
  3. Thoroughly blot with Saf-T-Solv™ Dry Volatile Solvent Spotter.
  4. Prespray Preface® at 1:10 with water or Olefin Preconditioner Carpet Prespray / Traffic Lane Spotter for oily soils at 1:10-1:30, agitate and thoroughly extraction clean.
  5. If extremely heavy, use the Water Claw® Sub-Surface Spot Lifter to more thoroughly flush out the spill.
  6. To prevent wicking, heavily sprinkle Stain Blotter Anti-Wicking Absorbent Powder on area to absorb any material that wicks up.
  7. The customer can vacuum up the Stain Blotter the next day.
  8. Residual odor may have to treated with an Ozone Odor Control Machines.
