The truckmount carpet cleaning method is hot water extraction, the method recommended by nearly all carpet manufacturers, done from a truck-mounted unit outside the home with only the hose and floor tool brought into the home or office. Bane-Clene refers to this type of carpet cleaning as “External Extraction”™.
TYPES OF TRUCKMOUNT CARPET CLEANING EQUIPMENT:
- “PTO” - Power Take Off systems
- Slide-Ins
- Hybrids
“PTO” Power Take Off Carpet Cleaning Systems:
PTO truck mounted carpet cleaning machines get their vacuum and water pressure power from the truck’s transmission or engine. For heat, PTO’s typically use the heat of the vehicle’s coolant system to heat the water through a heat exchanger. The dirty water recovery tank, the fresh water tank and the reels for the hoses are bolted to some part of the van. One of the biggest disadvantages of the PTO system is that you must run the vehicle at the same time as your cleaning, causing extra wear and tear on the truck’s engine and transmission. Additionally, the van or truck must be parked while running far enough away from the house or building to ensure that no exhaust fumes or carbon monoxide enters the building. Because the cleaning equipment is part of the vehicle, it is not possible to use it to clean much beyond 300 feet away. Cleaning some apartment buildings and business buildings would require much longer hoses that practical, which would be simple with a portable cleaning machine.
“Slide-In” Truckmount Carpet Cleaning Machines:
Slide-in systems are called that because they are equipment that can be “slid into” the van or truck and bolted down. The power equipment, the dirty water recovery tank, the fresh water tank and the reels for the hoses are usually bolted to some part of the van. The advantage to the slide-in over PTO equipment is greater versatility and lower cost. Since the cleaning equipment is separate from the truck, it can be easily removed and installed into a different van. Power for vacuum and pressure to operate the cleaning machine is usually from a propane or a fuel oil engine. For heat, such units derive heat from propane or fuel. Much like the PTO system, it is extremely important the truck or van be parked far enough away to ensure that no exhaust fumes or carbon monoxide enters the building. Because the cleaning equipment is bolted down to the vehicle, it is not possible to use it to clean much beyond 300 feet away. Cleaning some apartment buildings and business buildings would require much longer hoses that practical, which would be simple with a portable cleaning machine.
Another type of “Slide-In” Truckmount Carpet Cleaning Machines is electric powered, but still permanently bolted to the van or truck. Such units derive their heat using a heat exchanger hooked into the truck’s coolant system with the hot water tank, dirty water recovery tank, power equipment and hose reels permanently attached to the truck. Because such units are electric powered (by plugging into the building’s outlets), there is no concern about exhaust fumes entering the building and no extra wear and tear on the van or truck’s engine. There is also no extra cost for fuel. Bane-Clene’s machines fitting this category are the Perma-Mount™ 70, the Permanent-Mount™ 120.
Electricity is the cheapest, most dependable form of energy. It’s safe - not dangerous like so many of the stored fuels. Bane-Clene truck-mount carpet cleaning equipment may be operated in a closed building without the danger of carbon monoxide poisoning. Electricity doesn’t require a lot of maintenance and it does not break down in the middle of a job. It is never hard to start. Bane-Clene truckmounted equipment uses safe, efficient electric power. Nearly every other manufacturer uses natural gas, propane gas, gasoline or fuel oil for power - all of which can be dangerous for carbon monoxide poisoning as well as fire & explosion hazards.
Hybrid Electric Powered Truckmount Carpet Cleaning Machines:
The
hybrid truck-mounted carpet cleaning machine is typically electric powered. In the case of the hybrid approach, the hot water tank, the dirty water recovery tank and the hose reels are permanently bolted to the truck or van. BUT, the separate power unit is on wheels with its own electric in-line heater, hot water tank and recovery tank and can be removed from the van and simply plugged into outlets in the building - in other words, it is now a portable. When not used as a portable but run from the van, the unit is attached to the the hot water tank, recovery tank and hose reels in the truck. Bane-Clene’s machines fitting this category are the Duo-Mount™, the Maxi-Mount™, the Mini-Mount™ and the Para-Mount™.
