Removing Lacquer and Linseed Oil from Rugs and Carpet:

  1. If still fresh and wet.
  2. Absorb with dry white towels.
  3. Scrape up any dried material.
  4. Blot with an acetone-based nail polish remover.
  5. Blot with odorless mineral spirits or alcohol on a white towel.
  6. Do not pour solvents directly on the carpet or you will destroy the latex glue holding the primary and secondary backing together.
  7. Blot with a solution of 1 teaspoon maximum of liquid HAND dish washing detergent per cup of lukewarm water.
  8. Blot with a solution of 2 tablespoons of HOUSEHOLD ammonia per cup of water.
  9. Blot with lukewarm water with a white towel. Blot dry with a dry WHITE absorbent towel.
