How to Remove Coffee / Tea Spill Stain from Carpets and Rugs

Coffee stains on carpet can be hard to remove, but if act you quickly, you’ll never see them again.

1. Blot Quickly

Blot as much of the liquid up as possible using a towel or paper towel, working from the outside to the middle so the stain doesn't spread. DO NOT RUB. Rewet with a small amount of cold water and continue to blot until it is gone.

2. Use a Cleaning Solution

If some stain is left, mix 1 cup of whie vinegar with 1/2 teaspoon of dish soap and blot the solution onto the stain with a sponge or light-colored towel. Allow it to dwell for 5-10 minutes. Blot with a clean towel or paper towel.

3. Repeat

Rinse once again and dry blot. For old, dried, stubborn stains, use Perky® Spotter.

4. Keep the Stain from Reappearing

If the spill was very heavy, there may still be some coffee in the carpet backing and even the pad. In that case, place a dry, white, folded towel on the area and place something heavy on it and leave overnight. This will absorb any remaining liquid that may wick back up.
