Surviving a Heart Attack

Know the symptoms of a heart attack. Chest, neck or left arm pain may be accompanied by nausea are pretty strong indicators. Women are more likely to have shortness of breath, fatigue, sweating, racing heart and a burning sensation in the stomach. Chew two full strength aspirin tablets and call 911 for an ambulance. Don’t be embarrassed if it turns out to be something minor. It's better to be wrong than sorry.

Tell the ambulance technicians and hospital staff that you think you are having a heart attack. EKG and blood tests may show no evidence of a heart attack but hours later may reveal a minor heart attack occurred. Get the proper treatment immediately which may include a beta blocker, nitroglycerin, ace inhibitor or a clot busting treatment which could include angioplasty.
