Zippering of Loop Pile Carpet
Zippering occurs in a loop pile carpet in which tufts are pulled from the backing resulting in long, lengthwise pulls out of the carpet. Zippering occurs when the backing compound does not securely encapsulate the tuft base or when the latex has been damaged due to over use of solvent spotters or water damage.
