Acetate FiberUsed in Upholstery Manufacturefrom Bane-Clene®Acetate fiber is regenerated cellulose fiber made by treating wood pulp with acetic acid, acetic anhydride and acetone to form a thick liquid which is extruded and hardened to form filaments. Acetate fiber is easily weakened by strong alkaline solutions and strong oxidizing agents. Acetate upholstery fiber is dissolved by acetone and fingernail polish removers containing acetone. Found in some upholstery and slip cover fabrics. Resistant to mold and mildew. Acetate fiber loses strength when wet. Acetates can usually be wet cleaned or dry cleaned and generally do not shrink. Always pre-check dye stability before cleaning any upholstery. Related Articles and Information:
